6RW

Happy New Year!

This term our topic is ‘Bloodheart’. Throughout the topic, we will be learning all about the human body, with a particular focus on our hearts and how to stay healthy.

In Literacy, we will be continuing to broaden our writing skills whilst study a range of different writing genres. We will be using a range of resources to help us with this, including stories, film clips and artwork. Grammar and Spelling is an important part of our Literacy and we will be completing daily activities to help us grow in confidence in these areas.

In Math, we will be working hard to further our understanding of mathematical concepts, as well as challenging ourselves with new areas of learning. We will be working hard to make links within our learning and applying what we know to a range of problem solving challenges.  Times tables are at the route of lots of our work and so we will be continuing to focus on developing our fluency of these using 99 Club and TimeTables Rockstars.

Homework.

There will be weekly Literacy and Maths homework. This is sent out on a Monday and needs to be returned to your child's teacher on a Thursday. It is important that these are completed as they will link closely with the work studied in school and will support your child's understanding of these topics.

Spellings will be sent home every Friday and tested the following week. Your children can also practise these spellings on their SpellingShed account.

Reading - every child should be reading at home for at least 15 minutes a day. We ask that an adult sign their reading records once they have read.

We look forward to a great term.

Maths SATs Revision

To help you to prepare for your maths SAT this summer, Third Space Learning have created some helpful activities for you to work through. They explain how you might solve a particular problem and then provide you with some challenges for you to have a go at.
