7C

Welcome to 7C.

We we are an Area Resource Base designed to cater for children with complex Special Educational Needs in a specialised environment that is designed to meet the needs of each individual pupil at their own level.

The class is lead and managed by Jess Carew accompanied by the rest of the team: Jodie Jarvis (HLTA), Denise Borlase, Zoe Skipiol, Mel Johnson, Julie Franklin (TAs) with the partnered support of Lori Furniss (mainstream SENCO and DSL).

We currently have a range of needs on roll in the ARB and each child will receive a curriculum that is closely tailored to meet their individual needs and Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) targets. We aim to keep the environment calm, happy, purposeful and engaging for all at their own level. For this reason each child's provision in the ARB may vary greatly in terms of experiences and curricular activities. All learning experiences are planned in close co-ordination with outside agencies involved with each individual child.

Within the ARB we focus on a life skills centred approach. This can range between a extremely sensory based timetable for our more complex learners up to an increased ratio of time spent within inclusion opportunities within mainstream where appropriate.

Mirroring our provision within the classroom we have an identical outlook regarding out and about within the community. Where appropriate, children will engage in trips and visits within their class, in small groups, individually or with their link class. This is closely managed between all involved to ensure meaningful and purposeful experiences for each child.

The key key word in the ARB is individual and we recognise the right of each child witihin our setting to receive a curriculum that is meaningful to them. We want learning to be purposeful, fun, engaging and above all right for each child.
